As a Ph.D. student in the Oakley lab at the University of California, Santa Barbara I am exploring the evolutionary origins and patterns of convergence in squid photophores at the cellular level.

Previously during my time as an undergraduate at the University of Central Florida in Dr. Christopher Parkinson's lab, I studied gopher tortoise ecology as well as pit viper phylogenetics and systematics. While working in Dr. Eric Hoffman's lab, I am studying the population genetics of croaker fish in the Indian River Lagoon.

In addition to research, I am honing my artistic skills in order to better communicate my (and others') science in a more creative and engaging way.
